Aftercare

On the day of your appointment

When you leave the studio your new tattoo will be wrapped with film, this is done to ensure that it is kept clean and helps prevent infection. Leave this film on for 1-2 hours, once removed gently rinse your tattoo with warm water and pat dry with a clean paper towel. DO NOT MOISTURISE. We recommend wearing some old, loose clothes to bed as your new tattoo may leak a little ink and fluid, this is normal.

The days after your appointment

You should now gently wash your new tattoo with a mild antibacterial soap, pat dry with a clean paper towel, then apply a good tattoo aftercare ointment/moisturiser twice a day until the tattoo has healed, this generally takes around two weeks.

Your tattoo may scab and/or become itchy, this is normal. Please do not scratch or pick it, this is all part of the healing process. Whilst scabbing and itching is generally expected if it is accompanied by extreme redness, feels hot to the touch or has any cloudy yellow or green discharge, please seek medical attention as you may have an infection due to incorrect aftercare.

General aftercare

  • Only ever touch your new tattoo with clean hands.
  • Try to wear loose fitting clothing during the healing process.
  • Do not expose your tattoo to chlorine for 8 weeks after being tattooed.
  • Avoid exposing your new tattoo to strong sunlight.

Long-term care

To keep tattoos looking their best, long-term care is required. Moisturizing them regularly and using a high factor SPF is key to keeping them bright and vibrant for years to come.
